Patient and Family Orientation
Every Friday from 10 – 11 a.m.
Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center Lower Level Conference Room
This very informative meeting occurs every Friday to educate patients and their family members about Cancer Center services. Each orientation session is followed by a question and answer period.
Nutrition Class
Every 1st Thursday of the month from 3 – 4 p.m.
Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center Lower Level Conference Room
Lead by Cancer Center Dietitians, this class provides information on a variety of topics relating to nutrition and cancer. Anyone with a cancer diagnosis, their family and friends are invited to attend. A new topic is discussed each month.
Man Talk
Every 1st Tuesday of the month from 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center Lower Level Conference Room
This group is open to men who have been diagnosed with cancer. This group is facilitated by a male social worker and focuses on providing information, education and support for male cancer patients and survivors.
Facing Forward Group
Every 2nd Tuesday of the month from 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center Lower Level Conference Room
Open to any woman who has been diagnosed with cancer, this group meets to discuss topics related to cancer and women’s health issues allowing time to share feelings and experiences in a supportive and understanding environment.
Caregivers Support Group
Every 2nd Tuesday of the month from 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center Lower Level Conference Room
This group is for caregivers only and is focused on providing information and support. It is an opportunity for caregivers to come together in a supportive environment to discuss their needs and concerns.
Coming Together
Every 3rd Thursday of the month (Oct – May) from 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center Lower Level Conference Room
This group, facilitated by professionals trained in helping children, is for children who have a loved one with cancer. Includes dinner, a craft activity and a place for children to talk about concerns they may have. Adults also meet and get information on how to best support their children.
Look Good, Feel Better
Every 3rd Monday of the month
9 – 11 a.m. at Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center
6 – 8 p.m. at Health Pavilion North Cancer Center
This free monthly program, sponsored by the Friends of the Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society, teaches wig styling, skin care and make-up techniques for those going through cancer treatment. For more information, please call 615-7618.
Taking Charge of Your C.A.R.E.
Every 4th Tuesday of the month from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Health Pavilion North Cancer Center
For patients, their family members and friends, this group addresses common issues of living with cancer. All patients, whether newly diagnosed with cancer, new to the facility or end of treatment, are invited to attend.
