Macy's associates present a check for $1,062.00 to Deanna Benson-Reed, Coordinator for Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation’s Friends of the Cancer Center for the 2010 Ribbon Walk & Ride.

Volunteers for Friends of the Cancer Center gathered for their annual Christmas party on December 4.

Cape Fear Classics Car and Truck Club president Jim Smith and wife Nancy present a monetary donation to Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation Friends Coordinator Sabrina Brooks at the Club's recent Christmas Party. The funds will support the Friends of Children programs in the Cape Fear Valley Health System. The Club also collected over 70 teddy bears to be distributed to hospitalized children at Cape Fear Valley.

Teachers from the 6th Grade Classes at Max Abbott Middle School present a donation of $728.23 to Deanna Benson-Reed, Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation’s Friends of the Cancer Center Coordinator. Pennies were collected throughout the month of October by the 6th grade students through the program "Pennies for Patients".

Cape Fear Regional Theatre Performance Troupe performed at Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation’s 27th Annual Light of Life Tree Lighting Ceremony on Nov. 28. The group is directed by Bo Thorp and Cassandra Vallery (front center). Special guests were Katie Elizabeth Mills, Miss Fayetteville 2011, and Elizabeth Adkins, Miss Fayetteville’s Outstanding Teen 2011.

The Methodist University Volleyball Team presents a donation to Deanna Benson-Reed, Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation’s Friends of the Cancer Center Coordinator. The team raised $300 through the Breast Cancer Awareness Game Saturday held on Oct. 30. The team also promoted breast health education in the community as well as raised funds to help eradicate breast cancer.

The Grays Creek High School’s Men’s Soccer Teams and Women’s Volleyball Teams presented a donation of $2,214.00 to Deanna Benson-Reed (left), Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation’s Friends of the Cancer Center Coordinator. The donation is to be used directly in the support of Breast Cancer Services for women in need in our own community.
Grays Creek High School Fall Athletes showed their support for breast cancer awareness month by wearing pink during athletic events and raising money to support breast cancer needs in our own community. Stephen Nalls (center) and Lindsey Bishop (right) acted as fundraiser campaign captains for the Men’s Soccer Teams and Women’s Volleyball Teams, respectively.

The staff of Keller Williams Realty present a donation to Deanna Benson-Reed, Coordinator of Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation's Friends of the Cancer Center. The donation is to support mammography services through Friends of the Cancer Center.

The staff of Tangles Salon held a breast cancer awareness fundraiser on October 29 to raise money mammogram through Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation’s Friends of the Cancer Center.

Ms. Angela Newble & Ms. Cathy Blackwell 5th grade teachers along with the 5th grade students at Stoney Point Elementary School present Deanna Benson-Reed, Coordinator for Friends of the Cancer Center a check for $1,055.35 representing monies collected from the sale of buttons to promote awareness and to support cancer patients at Cape Fear Valley.

Roma Parikh, President of the Sencaia Youth Group of the Hindu Bhavan Temple presents Halloween cards to Sabrina Brooks, Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation’s Friends of Children Coordinator. The cards were made by the members of the youth group for children hospitalized at Cape Fear Valley.

The books were collected by members of the sorority to be given to children who are staying in the hospital and those having procedures at Cape Fear Valley

Accepting the donation is Kathy Verkuilen, Foundation Administrative Director, and Bill Hurley, Foundation Board President.

Bill and Carolyn Dickerson, their family and staff from Spirit Halloween Superstore held a Halloween party on October 21 for the children the Cancer Center support group. They brought costumes and treat bags for each of the children in the support group and for those hospitalized. They also provided games, activities and face painting.
