Public Hearing Set For Hoke County Hospital Proposal

State officials will be in Raeford in June to hear input from residents about Cape Fear Valley Health System's Certificate of Need (CON) application to build a hospital in Hoke County.

The public hearing will be held June 14 at 1 p.m. inside the Senior Center Hall at the L.E. McLaughlin Building at 423 Central Avenue. Preregistration to speak begins at 12:30 p.m.

Cape Fear Valley is asking the N.C. Division of Health Service Regulation for permission to build a 41-bed hospital along the U.S. 401 corridor. State planners have already approved Cape Fear Valley's request to build an imaging center in Hoke County.

FirstHealth of the Carolinas officials will also attend the hearing to speak on behalf of their competing CON application. The Pinehurst-based health system wants to build an eight-bed hospital, also in Hoke County. State planners have previously rejected FirstHealth's request to build an ambulatory surgery center on their proposed hospital's campus.
