Cape Fear Valley offers the community's only civilian inpatient pediatric unit, the Children's Center. This 22-bed facility has been recently renovated to make children and parents as comfortable as possible during their stay. There is also a Pediatric Playroom with various toys and activities for children of all ages.
All of our patient rooms are equipped with a chair or a sofa that reclines into a sleeper. Parents are invited to stay with their children to make their stay more pleasant.
Each of our staff members has been specifically trained to meet the needs of children and to provide quality and compassionate medical care. Pediatric Case Managers are available to provide emotional support to the child and family. These case managers act as your child’s Coordinator of Care during his or her stay. They work with the school system to help your child stay up-to-date with his or her school work while in the hospital.
Patients range from observation status to those with long-term chronic illnesses. The Children's Center includes a seven-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for critically ill children and those at risk for life-threatening events.
Cape Fear Valley Medical Center’s Emergency Department, one of the busiest in the state, includes a dedicated Children’s Emergency Department staffed by physicians and nurses who specialize in the care and treatment of children.
