Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic therapy is an alternative treatment method, focusing on improving a patient's functioning through the utilization of the unique properties of water. Our 47,000 gallon warm- water pool, located in the Rehabilitation Center of Cape Fear Valley Hospital, offers patients pain management, relaxation, support, and strength progression that they may not be able to achieve on land.

Who can benefit?

Warm water therapy can be beneficial to patients of all ages and ability ranges, but is especially beneficial for the following categories:

  • Patients with healed amputations
  • Arthritis
  • Cardiovascular Disease
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Neurological Impairments
  • Developmental Disabilities
  • Osteoporosis
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • Spinal Cord Injuries
  • Stroke Patients
  • Patients needing pain management due to injury
  • And more!

How do I become a patient?

Interested participants will need to obtain a doctor's note from their Primary Care Physician, clearing them to participate in Aquatic Therapy, along with the applicable diagnoses. Patients must complete both a land evaluation and a water evaluation with the Aquatic Therapist on staff.

How are the classes structured?

Classes are offered in both a group setting and 1-1 setting. Group classes are $40/month; insurance coverage is currently NOT accepted. Individual 1-1 sessions are $20 per hour-long session.
