Patient Outcomes

Cape Fear Valley Rehabilitation Center (CFVRC) has been awarded accreditation from the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. The accreditation includes program accreditation for comprehensive integrated interdisciplinary rehabilitation.

CFVRC strives to keep the length of stay short while working towards the goal of discharging patients with the highest level of functional independence as is possible.

Clinical Outcomes For Adults

CFVRC uses the Functional Independence Measure (FIM) for adult patients, which looks at 18 items such as eating, dressing, and talking on a seven-point scale. The scale ranges from total independence (7) to total dependence (1). The staff evaluates each patient using this measure on admission and at discharge. CFVRC sends results of these measures to a nationwide database each quarter. CFVRC’s results are compared with over 800 other facilities as shown below:

Therapy Services

Patients admitted to Cape Fear Valley Rehabilitation Center can expect to receive a minimum of three hours of therapy a day, five days per week. Most patients receive some therapy on weekends, depending on diagnosis and the amount of therapy received during the week. Physicians will order therapy services for each individual. Therapy services that are available include: physical, occupational, speech language pathology, recreational therapy, and psychology services. Therapy may be done on an individual basis or in a group. You will receive a schedule of your therapy times, and someone will help you get there.

At Cape Fear Valley Rehabilitation Center, our goal is for you to be as independent as possible. This means that you and your family will be involved in all aspects of your care. Our staff will be asking you to assume more and more responsibility and independence the closer you come to discharge. This will make you and your family better prepared for your activities of daily living and resuming home life.

We hope you choose Cape Fear Valley Rehabilitation Center for your rehabilitation needs.
