Choosing a cancer center is an important decision - one you can make a little easier by looking for the Commission On Cancer seal of approval. Though only 1,500 cancer programs in the United States have received this special designation, these programs treat 70 percent of cancer patients.

Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center is accredited through the American College of Surgeons Commission On Cancer with commendation as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Receiving care at a program accredited by the Commission on Cancer ensures that you will receive:

• Information about clinical trials and new treatment options.
• Follow-up care at the completion of treatment, including a survivorship care plan.
• A cancer registry that collects data on cancer type, stage and treatment results, and offers lifelong patient follow-up.
