Clinical Trials
For many patients, standard chemotherapy regimens provide the best possibility of long-term survival. For others, however, less conventional treatment approaches are needed to offer new hope after chemotherapy has failed and to provide greater chances of long-term survival. These patients may choose to enroll in a clinical trial – a research protocol that can use new chemotherapeutic drugs or add a new drug to a standard regiment for improved outcomes.
Not only can clinical trials sometimes provide what proves to be a superior treatment, but others in the cancer-fighting community benefit from the information each study reveals. For more information about the numerous clinical trials conducted at the Cancer Center and how to determine if you are a candidate, contact the Oncology Research Coordinator at (910) 615-4561.
